Coaching FAQs

What type of skills are being built with coaching?

Your coach will customize a coaching plan that meets your student’s needs. In general, here’s an overview of what we’re working on:

  • Effective time management

  • Setting goals and priorities

  • Organization

  • Taking responsibility

  • Building good routines and habits

  • Overcoming overwhelm

  • Breaking free of blockers like the inability to start, perfectionism, etc.

  • Academic excellence

  • Confidence and overall happiness

Our comprehensive coaching program is designed to help your student transform frustration into focus and build the skills they need to thrive.

How long is the commitment?

Though our plans are month-to-month with no long-term contracts, we recommend students commit to at least three months of coaching to start seeing significant change. (You’ll also save 10% by booking all three months at once.)

It takes time to build habits, which is why one-off sessions or sporadic check-ins aren’t enough to be impactful. Just like you can’t learn to play the guitar in one lesson or build a house in a day, creating lasting change requires consistent effort.

How long will my student need to work with a coach?

This can vary, but most students start to see significant transformation after about 3 months.

Consistency is key with coaching because it helps reinforce positive habits and strategies, leading to sustainable long-term improvements.

Will there be some quick wins early on? Certainly.

However, we have to remember that executive dysfunction requires time to address. The science of coaching for executive dysfunction states that sustained support leads to better outcomes. The average student works with us for 6-8 months or throughout each school year.

Some students may benefit from short-term coaching to address specific challenges, while others might require ongoing support to ensure lasting success.

The goal isn’t for your student to become dependent on a coach, but rather to build the skills they need to succeed independently.

Where are the sessions held?

We offer online coaching via Zoom. Your student will also “keep their coach in their pocket” through our app, which provides ongoing support between sessions.

Is coaching therapy?

No, coaching is not therapy. A coach helps you activate and move forward, focusing on practical strategies and goal achievement. In contrast, a therapist is a medical professional who addresses mental health issues and emotional healing.

Does my child need to be formally diagnosed?

We don’t require a formal diagnosis for coaching, as the students we work with span the range of neurodivergence. While we do recommend working with a medical professional to pinpoint specific needs, we don’t put strict requirements on formal diagnoses.
